Introducing...Sub Couple!
When first listening to the quirky rock n roll sounds of Sub Couple, immediate thoughts that spring to mind are that they are like a mash up between The Cult and Kasabian; old and new. Silver Dollar is a perfect example of this; Dave Tomlinson has an Ian Astbury quality to his voice and the psychedelic tones in the guitar echo those of Kasabian. The opening rumblings of the bass in Economy Scum...

Hellyeah - Band Of Brothers
Since being able to properly focus on their side project in 2006, heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah having been tearing up the metal world with hard hitting albums and even stronger live performances. Band Of Brothers is their third studio album, a record they are very happy with, and with good reason.
War In Me is a belter of an opener and whilst heavy, the riffs under Chad Gray’s...

Rebel Rebel!
Remember back to a time when music was fun? When boys looked like girls and girls looked like boys? When shiny clothing, platform boots and Ziggy Stardust adorned every teenage girls wall? Yes, the Seventies people, and more specifically the glam rock era.
Rock and roll and magical bands, all tainted with a little bit of glitter and lipstick! The boys were pretty and the girls were...

Crucified Barbara - The Midnight Chase
Sadly, many see women in rock music as nothing more than a bit of eye candy, sometimes a bit of a joke. Then along comes Crucified Barbara to prove that girls can do it just as good as the guys can. The Midnight Chase is their third album, and one that sees them tackling a more mature sound…
Packed with plenty of attitude, it kicks off with The Crucifier, quite the anthem. Heavy guitars,...

Introducing...Euphoria Audio!
Home Grown Rock have done it again! Hailing from Wakefield, quartet Euphoria Audio are another brilliant undiscovered band. With beautiful melodies and a powerful vocal, their music is bordering on the epic side that would easily fill an arena.
With influences such as Queen and Led Zeppelin, it’s hardly surprising their sound is big, but their tight riffs and structures are...

Vintage Trouble - Sage, Gateshead, 20.07.12
Playing as part of Gateshead’s Americana Festival, this was Vintage Trouble’s third visit to the Sage, and their second headlining Hall 2. It’s an ideal venue for a band like Vintage Trouble. A decent enough size venue, but still small enough that it feels like a club where everyone can join in the party. Which is exactly what a Vintage Trouble gig is.
Starting mellow with Not...

L.A. Guns - Hollywood Forever
“Hollywood Forever” is the latest release from California rockers LA Guns - the Lewis, Riley, Blades and Griffin version anyway (but lets not get into that old debate…). The album sees the band taking off where “Tales From The Strip” left off in 2005 and if there is one thing this album does, it is revisit old territory. The album, as did “Tales…”,...

Trojan Horse - Fire
The Greek Trojan Horse, a mighty structure containing a huge surprise; an apt name for this Manchester group. A solid foundation with a middle you weren’t quite expecting, Trojan Horse tap into all sorts of diverse influences to create a prog, experimental world. In all honesty, it’s hard to box them into any kind of musical stereotype. The furious pace of opening track Fire has the...

Tremonti - All I Was
After being part of one of the biggest rock bands of the 90’s and headlining Wembley arena last November, guitarist Mark Tremonti put both Creed and Alter Bridge aside to produce his first ever solo album. A self confessed metal head and tackling the task of vocals himself, let’s see how he got on.
The heavy influences of his childhood are evident in opening riffs of Leave It Alone and anyone...

Newton Faulkner - Write It On Your Skin
Newton Faulkner has always been one of those artists that I can really give or take. He has a few catchy songs in his back catalogue, but he’s never really grabbed me. And this album is the same sort of deal.
Aside from one or two tracks (namely Pick Up Your Broken Heart and In The Morning), it’s upbeat, optimistic music that, if we’d had a summer this year, could have been a...

Marilyn Manson - Brixton Academy, 05.07.2012
Once upon a time Marilyn Manson was seen as the spawn of the devil, the bringer of evil. People protested his gigs and he was the epicentre of worldwide moral panic. Fast forward to 2012 and things could not be more different. Where once there was a buzz about the self-confessed ‘God of Fuck’ playing a gig, these days its just another show.
Manson has somewhat fallen off the radar in recent years,...

Fresh from an apparently blinding set at Download with Soundgarden, Chris Cornell brought his solo Songbook tour to Newcastle for the first time.
