Crucified Barbara - The Midnight Chase
Sadly, many see women in rock music as nothing more than a bit of eye candy, sometimes a bit of a joke. Then along comes Crucified Barbara to prove that girls can do it just as good as the guys can. The Midnight Chase is their third album, and one that sees them tackling a more mature sound…
Packed with plenty of attitude, it kicks off with The Crucifier, quite the anthem. Heavy guitars, great riffs, it really gets the album off to a good start and shows what the band are made of. Into The Fire has more of an 80s hint to it, with a little Motorhead style thrown in. There are a few generic rock tracks, but a few gems aswell to balance it out. Everything We Need is notably good, Rock Me Like The Devil is incredibly catchy, but the real standout track is Rules and Bones.
Mia Coldhearts raspy, strangulated style of singing really gives the band that something extra. Not so sweet, but gritty and ballsy, showing they will not be overlooked. In a very clichéd world of ‘girls who play guitars’, Crucified Barbara bring a new identity to it all. Full of sass, plenty of charisma and some awesome metal tunes to go with it.
