Todd Kerns to launch new Pledgemusic campaign (and a free download too!)

The countdown is on to the launch of another fantastic Pledgemusic campaign to come our way this year!

Todd Kerns, current bassist for Slash and frontman for Vegas rockers Sin City Sinners has revealed he will be working on his very own Pledgemusic campaign, to be launched on 13th December. The project will involve the recording of a new full length acoustic album Hello Cruel World, aswell as an extra EP of some of his personal favourites, also done acoustically.

Posting on his official blog, he explains it was actually the inspiration of Ginger Wildheart and the amazing success he had with 555%, as well as his current projects, that led him down the path of Pledgemusic.

“The entire project was elevated by my time with Ginger Wildheart and his amazing manager, Gav McCaughey. Through them, I was turned on to a whole other way to make records. All I wanna do is make music and get it to the people who want it. People say the record industry is dead and I say that’s partly true. I still believe there are a great many music lovers that find great joy in discovering new music. I just think that marketplace has become much more selective.”

The campaign will go live on 13th December, but right now you can grab yourself the free track Little Grace from Kerns as a special bonus! Head here to download the track!

Hornet set to make debut album through Pledge campaign

Up and coming London rockers Hornet are the latest group to announce a Pledge music campaign to make their debut album. Receiving glowing reviews for their rock n roll style with a dash of punk, they hope to follow in the steps of Ginger Wildheart to raise funds to create an album for the fans.

Pledge music campaigns allow the artist freedom as the funds come from fan donations rather than a record label. The album is set to be released next April and 10% of the money raised after their target is hit will go towards MacMillan Cancer Support.

“Pledge is a great way to get fans involved with our debut album and make it as much of an experience for them as it is for us!” said frontman Joe Thompson. “The album can be bought in advance through Pledge Music for just £8 or other exclusives can be bought such as signed setlists, guitar tabs and even Tollef’s Gibson SG which will be used in the recording of the album. Also 10% of any money Pledged after our goal is reached will be given to the great cause that is Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Pledging starts from just £8 which you can do right here! Check out Hornet’s campaign video below.

Corey Taylor keen on Bieber performance

You may remember a small YouTube video put together last year mixing heavy metallers Slipknot with teen pop star Justin Bieber. In an interview with Revolver, frontman Corey Taylor stated he would like to perform the mash up live revealing he recently tried to get Bieber involved in an acoustic performance after discovering he was nearby:

I was in Baltimore on my book tour and Justin was nearby in Washington, DC. I tried to get him down to my reading because I wanted to try to do an acoustic version of Psychosocial Baby together. But he was actually visiting children’s hospitals. You can’t say anything bad about a guy who’s visiting children’s hospitals.

Slipknot will be headlining next years Download Festival; special surprise? We rather hope not! Check out the mash up below.

Def Leppard set for Vegas residency

Another band set to take on their on residency in Las Vegas next year is going to be Def Leppard. The Sheffield rockers are set to play their classic album Hysteria during their nine show stint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Following the likes of Guns n Roses and Motley Crue, Leppard begin their run of shows on March 22 2013 and will be playing hits from their 35 year career. “We’re very happy to be part of what I call the first wave of rockers to take Vegas back from the lounge singers.” says frontman Joe Elliott. This will mark the first time the band have played one of their albums from start to finish.

Tickets go on sale this weekend…..maybe time for a holiday??

The Rolling Stones defend ticket prices

Frontman Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood have spoken out against the frustrated response to their extortionate ticket prices for their O2 shows later this month. All state that the show is expensive to put on and they need to make something in return resulting in no guilty conscience about the prices. Ticket prices range from £90 through to £950 for VIP packages, prices many can’t afford.

In a recent interview with Billboard Jagger moved on to discuss the unfairness in the secondary ticket market and was quick to point out that they don’t receive the money for tickets sold on at a higher price stating:

“So, yes, it’s expensive. But most of the tickets go for a higher price than we’ve sold them for, so you can see the market is there. We don’t participate in the profit. If a ticket costs 250 quid. let’s imagine, and goes for 1,000 quid, I just want to point out that we don’t get that difference.”

The shows take place on the 25th and 29th of this month to celebrate the groups 50th anniversary.
